I had the same problem. Plug the cord into any of my USB s, and the computer recognizes the sd card, recognizes the blackberry is there, but the DM does not recognize it.

Curious thing was I am also running a laptop, and NO problem.

Just by accident however I plugged the cord into a USB hub, which in turn was plugged into one of the USB slots. AND. IT WORKED I tried subsequent experiments, - plugging the cord directly into the same usb as the USB hub was plugged into, and it would not recognize it. Go through the USB hub - and it works like a charm.

Go figger but it would be appreciated if the people at blackberry could figure out why this should be, and beter - what to do so the cord can be plugged directly in.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums.

That is actually 100 contradictory to what we understand to be the proper connection methodology. Using a USB hub is highly discouraged and most often does not work. Why it works in your case is unknown. Why you cannot connect directly is further challenging. Here are some tips:hopefully something will be useful:

KB19717 The BlackBerry smartphone is not detected as a USB Mass Storage Device when connected to a computer

Also, check that you are using only root USB portsno hubs sometimes the front-side ports are hubsuse a rear USB port. And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration Device Manager.

Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there s no way to be sure if you ve already seen and tried these.

Hopefully something there is helpful.

Cheers.

Guys please help

I am getting this message :  Supplementary Error : System Failure , they swapped my device is became less frequent ;however, still annoying.

What do you think are the causes or the solution.

MY DEVICE : bb curve 9320 7.1 Latest Bundle

BTW I WIPED MANY TIMES.

I purchased a BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G, with 18months warranty. I had to submit it to the Expert Centre due to various problems and i got it back after about 2 months repaired. I thought this would last, but jus as my warranty was about to expire, the phone started giving problems again. So, i submitted it to the Expert Centre again. After about 10 days of working on it, I was told that the mother board of the Mobile phone is cracked/  damaged.  Now, my point is, that the phone does not have a single dent on its body or anything. neither was the Warranty seal broken.

How is it my fault that the mother board has a fault. Or is it just a way to earn money by the Blackberry company since it has suffered so much due to its horrendus after-sales services that its sales have gone down. I visited the Expert Centre to see the fault, and they said that you might have pressed the battery a little too muhc, i mean what are they.Crazy. And even if i did which i did not that means that the quality of raw materials used by BlackBerry are sub-standard.

I feel as if i made a huge mistake that i bought myself a blackberry. I have used Apple before this, and the after-sales services there, completely mind-blowing they are. And BlackBerry, i would suggest you guys take classes there.

I would like to get an early response from the advisors on this site, and also, if they cannot help, I would want an email address so that i can lodge an official complaint regarding this.

Thanks Regards,

Abhay

Does anyone or has anyone seen any data cables for any BB that converts from the mini USB or data port to a rs232 9-pin serial male or female connection.  I am hoping to use a BB to dial into a VRS network for our RTK/GPS system.  We have bluetooth, but it blocks port 1, which is necessary to stream data to our equipment.  If anyone has a clue where to find this, please let me know.

While Using Whatsapp Video Curve 9320 gets abruptly shutdown. Is there any easiest way to clear the logs other than alt l g l g

Hi and Welcome to the Community.

You need to contact Vodafone, even if the problem is rooted at BlackBerry. You pay Vodafone for 100 of your services and 100 of your formal service-related support, even if the issue resides at BlackBerry Vodafone is still your first place to contact for formal support.

So, ring them up and ask them about thisit is highly likely that they simply haven t finished shifting your services from your old BB to the replacement. Or perhaps the SIM is not compatible with the replacement BB. Or perhaps something elsebut, in any event, it s Vodafone you need to ring up.

Good luck.

Hi and Welcome to the Community.

KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone

Clearly, the seller did not conduct their steps. You can try just the buyer steps and hope for the best, or you can contact the seller and insist that they fully do all of their required steps, and then conduct the buyer steps.

In any event, the WIPE process will remove the association between your BB and their BB ID, and allow you to create a new BB ID for yourself. You will be, of course, starting overas all of those steps should have been completed before you started anything.

Hello,

I believe that your premise is incorrect:

jwinn3 wrote:

How do I delete the internal Device Memory/Samples/ directory of pictures, music, contacts and videos all different sub directories, to free up device internal application memory.

Device and Application Memory are separate. Emptying things out of Device Memory will do nothing to help Application memory. Here s some information:

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1 Application Memory, 2 Device Memory, and 3 Media/SD Card Memory

Application Memory -- This is the most crucial; it is the protected not user accessible, dedicated, and fixed in size space that is available as the destination for the installation of applications plus some application storage, overhead and such. You cannot touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can only install herethere is no option.

Device Memory -- This is space on your BB that you can touch to store files, pictures, media, etc. Typically, it is not terribly large, but it is available to you.

SD/Media Card Memory -- This is what it saysyour SD card, for you to store files, media, pictures, etc. It can be as large as your BB OS can supportsee this KB:

On some devices/OS levels, you can only see File Free Options Status, which I think is equivalent to AppMemory. On other devices, you can see all three memory usage levels Options Memory. Here are some guidelines to use:

Lastly, it is always important to properly close applications when you are done with them. Using the Back or the Red key will not do this -- those leave it to the app to decide what to doand some will leave themselves resident in memory, consuming resources on your BB, slowing the overall performance. Rather, to close an app, press and select Close or Exit that will force the application to be closed, freeing up for your new use the resources it was consuming. Some apps will always remain running typically -- BBMessenger, Browser, Homescreen, Phone, and Messages but, you should still close them properly - especially the Browserif it is left on an active web page, it will not only consume extra resources but battery power as well.

Further, anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- 5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB s suffer from memory leaks and suchwith a hard reboot being the best cure. Some have taken to doing this on a regular basis as a preventive measuresome as frequently as once per day. Others have obtained the QuickPull app to automate a simulated Batt-Pull.

Hello ahmed3091982,

I see that you ve posted this advice a few times. But, you might want to clarify how you are representing that app. It does not, as you say run all your blackberry applications from your SD card. Rather, what it does is archive them to your SD card when you request, but it must return them to AppMemory when you again want to run them. For actually running of an app, it must be located in AppMemorythere is no option. Hence, you still must have adequate AppMemory available at any given time for any given app you wish to run.

I ve known several folks who have tried this approach and, due to the performance degradation, elected instead to find the balance of installed apps on their BB that allowed them to do as they desire yet not sacrifice performance.

Please see this helpful thread to start:

Even if you happen to have now the correct code, it is useless. Only the factory can now legally unlock your BB. Typically, I ve heard that the cost of having BlackBerry do this for you will be greater than the cost of just buying a new one. But, you are able to ask themsee here:

Note, however, that this process will start with a fee

If your BB was already MEP locked and you obtained it from a source that represented it as being able to be unlocked, then your recourse would be with the seller you obtained it from.

Hi, my daughter has just got a Blackberry curve.  Last night she tried to register for BBM putting in some personal details.  The phone told her the registration had failed and a Please Wait sign has appeared.  Her phone is now locked and is not allowing her to use any of the keys or to unlock her phone.  Any ideas.  Thanks.
