Hey guys I heard Ross Tech has free downloads available for Ross tech. I was wondering which one I should download for the MKV, there seems to be 8 different downloads.

Hey guys I heard Ross Tech has free downloads available for Ross tech. I was wondering which one I should download for the MKV, there seems to be 8 different downloads. The website says to use your interface but I am not sure which one it is. I plan on buying a cheap cable on ebay and using the download to access the cars computer. The website to the downloads is

you gotta find out what cable you are buying first. Different cables have different interfaces, for example there is a Kll-2 interface, something like that. The ebay cables however are hit or miss. I just bought a 4 dollar one coz i had 4 ebay bucks and i want to give it a try. Either way you re gonna have to choose a cable first and see what interface it is. And then you get to download VCDS Lite. You will not get the full features of vag-com although some report to have gotten them all. Either way the bottom line is that it is hit or miss and if you end up getting a cable that works it should be at least able to read and delete codes. Ill let you know how mine goes. You re gonna have to install a bunch of drivers and ish to get it to work also. Only true way to guarantee you get all the features of VAG is to buy a real cable, im about to shell out for it in the summer

Get a real cable and the software is free or buy a cheapo and have just the ability to scan and nothing else.

a real cable would be the one provided by ross tech

the rosstech cable has a built in key. You can t just download the software and use any cable that fits. The software only works with their cables. I purchased it and I am very happy with my vagcom unit. I keep it always plugged in to an in-dash laptop that i fabricated.

my vag com and my cable were both free

i took the cable from my friend and never gave it back

and vag com is a hacked version that you may find on line somewhere

Nice. Diggin the setup. And the vid of over 140 is legit, just hope no officials see it. BAm ticket. With a double din head unit can you display vag com readouts. I mean what If you picked up a mini tower CPU and mounted it in the glove box could you use the double din unit as a display.

thanks. if you purchase a double din unit that is capable of accepting a video feed from a mini tower cpu, you could definitely use vagcom through windows on the mini tower. maybe mount the power switch by the esp button for a nice clean finish. Something like this would work nicely.

I almost feel it d be more economical to wire in an Asus 7 screen and leave the rest of the room behind the screen open for mounting a mini tower. I could then just run iTunes or WMP on the 7 screen white having the capability to switch to VAG-Com as needed. The future could hold fun projects for this little rocket.

A gti Pirelli edition was a collaboration between Pirelli and VAG when they made a special edition car that featured revamped interior with Pirelli insignias and stitching. Special tire tread designs. It was also yellow in color and I believe had a little more hp/tq stock then a normal gti.
