Use

Are you are

changing switch settings in transactions SFW2 or SFW5. Alternatively, are you

importing an enhancement package that includes switch settings.

Then this section

explains how to analyze and correct the following:

Activation errors that might occur in

the Data Dictionary DDIC

Abnormal terminations of the activation

job, SFW_ACTIVATE_SF0X

Follow this link for more

information on the interaction between the Switch Framework and the

DDIC at changes in switch settings.

Prerequisites

You have changed

switch settings either interactively or by importing an enhancement package

that includes changes in switch settings. On restarting transaction SFW5 to

refresh the status display, you see one of these messages:

Activation error in Dictionary: Correct the

inconsistencies,

or

Activation job aborted: Activation completion

required

You need to correct

the problems that occurred and complete the activation. Otherwise the switch

activation is incomplete.

Procedure: Responding to Activation error in Dictionary

If you see this

message when you start transaction SFW5, then the last switch setting changes

have not been successfully completed.

The reason for the

unsuccessful switch activation is that there were activation errors in the

Data Dictionary DDIC. Follow this link for

DDIC at activation.

Here is how to

correct this problem and complete the switch activation:

In transaction SFW5, press the Display Activation Errors button.

The dialog that follows contains two

sections.

In the first tree – Dictionary Objects with Activation Errors

– you see the DDIC

objects that caused activation errors. You must correct these errors and

activate these objects in order to complete the switch activation.

The second tree – Objects Requiring Follow-Up Activities

– shows the switch-related objects that could not be activated as a

result of the DDIC activation errors. After you have corrected

the DDIC errors, you must complete the activation of these

objects.

Analyze and correct the DDIC activation errors by selecting each entry in the Dictionary Objects with Activation

Errors list in turn. A double-click on an error entry opens the affected

object in the Data Dictionary.

Display the activation errors log for

each object by choosing Utilities

Activation Log. Correct the problem that caused the error. Such problems

may include, for example, missing domain or data element definitions or errors

in table or structure definitions.

Return to the Activation Error display and activate the

DDIC objects after you have corrected the activation

errors.

Each corrected and activated DDIC

object disappears automatically from the list of Dictionary Objects with Activation Errors.

When the last DDIC

activation error has been corrected, a new button – Continue Activation – appears at the

bottom of the Objects with Activation

Errors and Open Tasks dialog.

Press this button to activate the objects in the Objects Requiring Follow-Up Activities

list. This activation completes the switch activation.

Restart transaction SFW5 and check that

the change of the switch setting has been successfully completed. The affected

business or enterprise functions should all show their new status.

Procedure: Responding to Activation job aborted

unsuccessful switch activation is that the activation job SFW_ACTIVATE_SF0X or

the activation continuation job SFW_ACTIVATE_FINISH terminated abnormally. In

general, the abnormal termination is due to an ABAP runtime error.

Start by finding out what caused the

activation job to fail. In a second session, start transaction SM37. Find the

job – SFW_ACTIVATE_SF0X or SFW_ACTIVATE_FINISH – that terminated

abnormally job status Canceled.

Display the job log. Mark the canceled

job in the job list and choose Job

Log. Look for relevant error messages. Also look for the time and date of

the runtime error, if there was one. The time and date will let you find the

dump in transaction ST22.

The job log might look something like this. The

runtime error entry is highlighted:

DateTimeMessage text

22.12.2011 :35

Job started

Step 001 started program SFW_ACTIVATION_IN_BACKGROUND

22.12.2011 :35Start

activation of SFW objects:

22.12.2011 :34 Internal

session terminated with a runtime error see ST22

22.12.2011 :34

Job cancelled

Start transaction ST22 and use the

search fields to find a runtime error at the date and time that you found in

the job log.

The information in the short dump helps you to

discover the cause of the failure of the job. If the cause was a transient

problem, then you can continue with the next step. Otherwise, you must correct

the problem with the job program or the system before you can proceed.

Once you have corrected the problem that

caused the failure of the activation job, you can complete the switch

activation or deactivation.

Return to the session with transaction SFW5.

Press the Display Open Tasks button at the top of the

screen.

In the following dialog – Objects with Activation Errors and Open

Tasks – you should see only a list of Objects Requiring Follow-Up Activities.

These are the switch objects that still need to be activated. If there are

objects with activation errors, then correct these errors as described in the

previous section.

If the switch activation can be

continued, you see the Continue

Activation button at the bottom of the dialog.

When the job - SFW_ACTIVATE_FINISH

– has finished, restart transaction SFW5 and check that the change of

the switch setting has been successfully completed. The affected business or

enterprise functions should all show their new status.
